For those who like to decide for themselves what places to visit, and in what order, there is also the possibility to organize a private tour.
When you hire a vehicle with driver, you get the chance to make your own schedule and spend as much or as little time as you please on
any of Samui's famous attractions. The flexibility of a private tour also allows you to visit unique places that normally are not on the
program of any of the regular tours. Our luxury, air-conditioned minivans can transport a maximum of 10 people. In your custom
itinerary
you could go to some of Samui's best-known sites such as:
Grandfather & Grandmother rocks: These rocks at the south of Lamai beach have been shaped over millions of years by
wind and water to resemble human reproductive organs. Because of their shape, the rocks are seen as strong fertility symbols, and
the local myth has it that these rocks are the origin of the Mui people. They are set on a beautiful coast lined with gigantic rocks,
that form inviting shallow pools in between.
Namuang Waterfalls: Namuang Waterfall is located 10 km south from Nathon at Ban Thurian. There are 2 waterfalls. Na Muang one
is 18 meter high and can be reached by vehicle. Na Muang two is the most spectacular waterfall on the island, and is about 80 meters high. It
can only be reached by a short jungle walk.
Wat Phra Yai & Big Buddha: This temple is the home of Koh Samui's most famous landmark: the Big Buddha. Most visitors come
to marvel at the sheer size and beauty of this remarkable statue at some point during their holiday. Visible from several kilometers away and
even from the air when arriving on or leaving the island , the 12 meter tall golden image stands proud.
Mummified Monk: Luong Por Daeng was a highly respected monk when he died, over 20 years ago. He died during meditation
and his body was naturally preserved. Today, he can still be seen in the exact same position. His body is on display in Kunaram Temple.
And mix those with some of the lesser-known attractions the island has to offer, such as:
Laemsor Pagoda: In the grounds of Wat Laemsor, this ornately designed Chedi (Pagoda) sits at the rocky water's edge. Covered in
countless small yellow tiles, it appears golden when viewed from a short distance. It's at the far South of the island off the road between
Ban Tale and Ban Pang Ka.
Butterfly Garden: Located in the south of the island, Na Tian Butterfly Garden is a kaleidoscope of
color provided by hundreds of
spectacular butterflies. For bug enthusiasts there's also an Insect Museum, featuring rare insects from Thailand and other countries, and a bee
house, which allows the visitor to observe the activities of bees.
Ancient house: Wood crafters and wood lovers alike can enjoy the teakwood house at Ban Thaley. Built about a century and a half ago
without the use of nails, this oldest house on the island features excellent carving as well.
Your driver will know where to find all the nicest spots on the island. Feel free to ask him about nice places that are not designated on the tourist
maps! Most local people are very proud of their island and would be delighted to show you places hardly anyone ever goes to. Don't be afraid to
explore the island!
