Ang Thong National Marine Park closing period

Ang Thong Marine Park will not be closed during Nov 2011

Unlike previous years the Thai authorities have decided to keep the Ang Thong national Marine Park open this year during the month of November. This decision was made due to the fact that the weather conditions on Koh Samui have been very favorable these last few years and it is therefore believed that we are experiencing a shift in the weather system.

The Eastern monsoon has arrived early to the gulf of Thailand this year and it produces mild weather conditions on Koh Samui.  This decision has been made just two days prior to the official closure of the park on the 1st of November and the government has therefore reversed its previous announcement.

This is very good news and a welcome decision since it was customary for many years to close the park during the monsoon,  although Tours Koh Samui, as well as other tour operators, found no valid argument to the annual closing.
